High resistance grounds are connected to the secondary side of transformers. When looking on digrams and one lines, these systems seem very complex. However, in all actuality when going to the FAT test they didn't see as complex at all. The Portable Hook On Ground Detector (the little black hand held device) is an amazing device that has no external power. It detects the pulsing ground fault so that the fault may be isolated. On first go around the device didnt work because we had it around all phases of the cable including the neutral. However, when we just put it around the phases, we began to see the pulsing current.
